Internship Opportunities
Internships provide a fantastic learning experience for people who wish to develop hands on work experience in the political field. Interns gain practical experience and pick up transferable skills that are helpful when applying for jobs. Julia is currently seeking interns to help with her General Election campaign. They are unpaid volunteers so working practices are flexible. This is a once in a five-year opportunity to work on a real campaign with a hard-working, high profile MP. Here's what some of Julia's current interns have said:Francesca Harris- What better time to discover what the world of politics is really like than when campaigning for a General Election! I've only been here a few weeks, but it is obvious the experience to be gained from this opportunity will be precious. I am currently involved in tackling Julia's e-campaign, so I'm helping with web updates, and using the various social networks to promote Julia's activities. But it's not all about work; the internship has been a great social experience, meeting lots of like minded people. It's just like the university experience all over again! Dom Gilchrist- Working with Julia has been a fun and rewarding experience. I've enjoyed being thrown in at the deep end with the chance to get involved in anything and everything. My placement has been only two weeks as I'm going travelling, but I would have been happy to continue my internship for longer. There's some work to do in the office, some on the doorsteps and some in the community, so it's a good balance. It's been fantastic to meet other interns and a night out is much more common than a night in! Steven Price- I've been working with Julia and the Lib Dems for about seven months. In my time here I have had a lot of fun and met a wide variety of interesting people. It has been great to work so closely with a young and dynamic MP like Julia. Though some of the work we do can be hard, knocking on doors and delivering leaflets, it is well worth it for all the social events that are put on for the interns and volunteers.
